Kathy Schneider and Shelby Murphy

The school year is starting soon, so let's learn about your current administration team!

Kathy Schneider - Interim Superintendent/Middle School Principal

As the interim district superintendent & middle school principal, I want to thank the Lone Rock community for the warm welcome I have received these past couple of weeks and for the opportunity to get to know you all over the upcoming months. In preparation for that, allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Kathy Schneider, and I was born and raised in rural North Dakota before moving to Havre for my four years of high school.  My husband and I have been blessed to raise our three daughters in western Montana and are grateful for the chance to have done so.

After high school, I attended the University of Montana and Montana State University where I earned my degree in Elementary Education.  After teaching middle school for a few years, I married, returned to graduate school, moved and stayed home to start a family.  We came back to the great state of Montana in 2001 and I returned to work; first as a teacher and then moved into school administration.  I have served as a dean of students, vice principal, activities director, principal and superintendent over the years.  I spent the last two years at the University of Montana working first as an academic advisor and then as a licensure and clinical experience specialist in the College of Education.  I found I missed being in the school with students and teachers, and I am honored to be able to serve in my interim role here at Lone Rock School, providing stability and consistency.  It is my goal to continue the good work of Dr. DoBell until he returns.

Shelby Murphy - Elementary Principal

Hello to all! My name is Shelby Murphy and I’m thrilled to be your Elementary Principal for the upcoming school year. I attended Lone Rock as a student from Kindergarten through 8th  grade, then attended Stevensville High School until my graduation in 2013. After a few years at the University of Montana (Go Griz!), I received my Elementary Education degree and was lucky enough to get my first teaching job in 2017 at Lone Rock, right back where I started my educational journey.

Since then I’ve mainly taught Kindergarten, getting to experience the joy of teaching our youngest students. I received my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction in 2020, and then went on to create the first K-Ready program at Lone Rock. It’s truly an honor to get the chance to become a leader in the school that helped make me the person I am today.  I am looking forward to the future of our school, and am excited to work in close partnership with our interim superintendent, Kathy Schneider, until Dr. DoBell’s return.
